ROUND POINT

PAINTINGS, 2026

Wanting to continue my exploration of color and attempt a more abstract realism, I painted this series on found wood to keep the process low-pressure and playful. Limiting myself to just three colors, I began by painting a structured color wheel on one circle. On another, I let the colors freely mix, using plenty of water in the acrylic. I gave the third to my daughter, letting her mix and paint with those same three colors.

I then painted over each piece using the same palette, layering in complementary colors, experimenting with negative space, and finally painting my daughter walking away from us into a scene, using her own painting as the background.
