ACRYLIC DIPTIC, 2022

Climate justice activists made global headlines this past October when they hurled tomato soup at Van Gogh’s Sunflowers at London’s National Gallery. Prompted by the act of civil disobedience, I imagined a world in which Andy Warhol time travels to 1888 to prank Vincent Van Gogh by swapping out his flower vase with his own infamous can of Campbell’s tomato soup. Not to be outdone, Van Gogh visits 1962 to return the favour by screenprinting sunflowers on Warhol’s signature piece.
